I’m Bobby Astrup — a founder, operator, and investor in over 40 early-stage companies across the US, Canada, and the UK. As a CPA and entrepreneur-investor, I bring a hybrid perspective, combining complex financial expertise with real-world experience across a wide variety of industries. I partner with founders who want to make a positive difference in the world by making valuable industries more efficient and by improving people's quality of life.
My Story
I invest with the perspective of someone who has built.
My career started in public accounting, where I learned how businesses really work — how money flows, where risk hides, and why discipline matters. From there, I moved into alternative investment management, evaluating strategies and allocating capital. But over time, I felt pulled closer to the builders themselves. I wanted to work alongside founders, not just analyze them.
Becoming a founder gave me a completely different lens. I’ve experienced the uncertainty, the tough decisions, the capital constraints, and the pressure that comes with trying to turn an idea into something real. That experience shapes how I show up as an investor today.
Through Triptaker Ventures, I partner with founders at the pre-seed and seed stages who are turning innovative ideas into practical solutions that solve real-world problems. I invest across fintech, travel, health and wellness, SaaS, and SMB growth companies — backing bold entrepreneurs with vision and the grit to execute.
I don’t see my role as just writing a check. I work closely with founders on financial strategy, scalable infrastructure, and making the right introductions to investors and industry leaders who can unlock the next stage of growth.
Outside of venture, I stay engaged in philanthropy and board service, because I believe leadership and accountability matter — whether you’re building a company or serving a community.
